OLTL alum Eddie Alderson preps for extended hospital stay

Mid-battle with lymphoma cancer, One Life to Live alum Eddie Alderson (ex-Matthew Buchanan) preps himself for an extended hospital stay he fears won't be easy.

Former One Life to Live star Eddie Alderson (ex-Matthew Buchanan) would no doubt be grateful for some love and prayers from soap opera fans. The young actor, who was diagnosed with lymphoma cancer earlier this year, is on his way to quite a lengthy hospital stay as part of his battle with the aggressive disease.

"I start my stem-cell transplant process today, and will be spending a few weeks in the hospital," he wrote on Instagram. "This will not be easy, but no worries, I got this."

He goes on to share that one quote in particular is helping keep him strong through this difficult time, which is: "Every battle is won before it is fought."

I start my stem-cell transplant process today, and will be spending a few weeks in the hospital...this will not be easy, but no worries, I got this 😉. I have one quote in my mind: "Every battle is won before it is fought." #WarriorMentality #NoSurrender #BringItOn

Alderson has spent the better part of this year battling cancer, even losing his hair during rounds of chemo earlier this summer. But through it all, he has kept his spirits high.

"Chemo may take my hair but it will never take my spirits or positive state of mind," he shared back in July. "One thing is for certain, there is #No Surrender in me. Never."

Sadly, the Alderson family -- which includes OLTL and GH alum Kristen Alderson (ex-Starr Manning; ex-Kiki Jerome) -- is no stranger to cancer. The siblings' grandpa passed away from leukemia, and their former OLTL costar Kassie DePaiva (ex-Blair Cramer; Eve Donovan, Days of our Lives) was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (though she is now, thankfully, cancer-free).
