GH's Emme Rylan sidelined by minor surgery

General Hospital's Emme Rylan (Lulu Spencer) is recovering from surgery related to an injury she experienced two summers ago.

Oops, she did it again! General Hospital star Emme Rylan (Lulu Spencer) is recovering from a facial injury once more, and this one looks just as painful as the original.

As her fans may recall, Rylan broke her nose two years ago when she collided with her youngest son, Levi. And she just had to undergo another surgery to finishing fixing it.

"I'm just one of those girls that posts pretty pictures with a soft filter," the actress joked on Instagram along with a selfie with her bandaged face.

Luckily, the surgery took place during GH's summer hiatus, meaning the minor medical procedure likely won't affect Lulu's screen time. It has, however, affected Rylan's summertime. The actress reports she's had plenty of time to learn a new skill: hairdressing!

"Strong meds plus YouTube tutorials equals I'm basically a hairdresser now," she jokes. "Seriously though... this is the most exciting hairstyle I have ever done by myself."

At the time of her original injury, Rylan -- who is also known for playing The Young and the Restless' Abby Newman and Guiding Light's Lizzie Spaulding -- explained how it all happened: "My son was running to jump on a cushion I was on & I sat up just as he jumped, his head broke my nose. Taken down by 4yr old!"
