Despite strict travel restrictions in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Denise Richards (Shauna Fulton, The Bold and the Beautiful) has flown to Spain to continue filming Glow and Darkness, in which she plays the real-life medieval princess Marie of France, Countess of Champagne.

Shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic shut down the entertainment world and drastically affected global travel, The Bold and the Beautiful's Denise Richards (Shauna Fulton) had begun shooting a new European television series called Glow and Darkness. Production of the Spanish TV show was temporarily put on hold, but it's now back in production -- and Richards has flown to Spain to reprise her role as Marie of France, a princess and Countess consort of Champagne in the 1100s.

The actress took to Instagram to share that she boarded a plane to Europe this week, adding that she is incredibly grateful to be able to get back to work on the historical series.

"Ragamuffin.... on my way to Spain. Back shooting #glowanddarkness started before we were all on lockdown," she posted. "I'm beyond grateful that my family is healthy & that I get to go back to work on this project, &see new friends I made. Thank you to everyone that jumped through hoops getting me there. It does not go unnoticed."

As Richards points out in her post, the powers that be at Glow and Darkness really did have to jump through hoops to get her into the European Union (which includes Spain), because the EU has banned Americans from entering due to the United States having become the epicenter of the coronavirus pandemic. There are some exceptions to the ban, one being for highly qualified workers like actors, athletes, and other artists with work to do in the EU.

As Soap Central previously reported, Glow and Darkness -- which was cowritten by Spanish TV producer Jose Luis Moreno and the show's creator, Alejandro Guillermo Roemmers -- will focus on some of the most relevant characters of the Middle Ages, including Richard I of England, Eleanor of Aquitaine, and Saint Francis of Assisi. Other stars attached to the project being filmed in English include Jane Seymour, Bruce Davison, Luke Cosgrove, Adam Bond, and Natalie Radmall, among others.

At this time, it's unclear if Richards' participation in Glow and Darkness will affect her screentime at B&B. Shauna is currently in a major storyline that involves a surprise marriage with Ridge (Thorsten Kaye), who's still involved with Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang). To read more about how that storyline might play out in the weeks ahead, check out a preview from the show's executive producer, Brad Bell.
