B&B star makes bold statement at Primetime Emmy Awards

The Bold and the Beautiful's Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke Logan) may have been overshadowed by General Hospital's Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis) on the night of the Primetime Emmy Awards, but she also made quite a statement during the event.

Even though General Hospital's Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis) got all this year's Primetime Emmy press over her controversial statement about Viola Davis' historic Lead Actress win, The Bold and the Beautiful's Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke Logan) made quite a bold Emmy statement of her own that night. She was part of a group of Hollywood insiders (including Mad Men's producer Tom Smuts) who arrived at the glamorous event on a bicycle.

Smuts, Lang, and a group that included actress Erika Christensen (Parenthood), actor Jon Juertas (Castle), and several retired professional riders arrived at the red carpet on bikes in order to celebrate cycling as a fun, viable mode of transport -- one that Smuts and Lang hope to make safer and more popular in traffic-ridden Los Angeles.

"The big point is cultural," Smuts told The Hollywood Reporter of the fun idea. "There seems to be a great deal of animosity between cyclists and drivers, and it goes both ways. Part of what I'm trying to do is wrap cycling advocacy in a different way -- that is more playful than confrontational, more stylish than street -- that could help change the relationship between drivers and cyclists."

Lang, who's been a B&B cast member since 1987, participated in the Malibu Triathlon earlier in the day.

What do you think of Lang and other Hollywood insiders making a statement about bicycling during this year's Primetime Emmy Awards? Share your thoughts in the Comments section below, on our message boards, or by submitting Feedback.
